About Asian Games

The 18th Asian Games was held in Jakarta and Palembang from 18 August to 2 September 2018. The opening and closing ceremonies of the Games were held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta. Also for the first time, eSports and Canoe Polo were contested as demonstration sports. There were a total of 45 nations with 11,720 athletes participating and 465 events in 40 sports. The official motto for this event was "Energy of Asia" .This event was opened by Joko Widodo and was closed by Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

Mascots

There are a total of three mascots unveiled in this event. The first mascot was Bhin-bhin (a greater bird of paradise). The second mascot was Atung (a Bawean Deer) and lastly Kaka (a Javan Rhino). Each mascots wear different clothes : Bhin Bhin wears a vest with Asmat pattern details, Atung wears a Sarong with Batik pattern, and Kaka wears a Songket with flower pattern. All three mascots are named after the official national motto of Indonesia, Bhinekka Tunggal Ika.

Official Song

There are actually a lot of songs for the 18th Asian Games. However, one of the most iconic song was "Meraih Bintang - Via Vallen"
